Round 4 of the South Coast Group 7 Junior Rugby League competition was held recently, with the Kiama Junior Knights hosting 11 games at Chittick Oval.
For the first time this season, there were four Girls League Tag teams playing at home. The Under 14s Girls League Tag was the first game, with Kiama Blacks taking on a well drilled Stingrays team.
Olivia Foster had an outstanding game, breaking the line on a number of occasions and looking dangerous each time she had the ball. Sophie Macdonald was a standout in defence often making 2-3 tags in a set of six from fullback position. Tries were scored by Caitlin Norris who ran straight and hard at the line from five metres out, and Jazmyn Quinn who ran 60 metres down the sideline to score a fantastic try under the posts.
According to Coach Stuart Willick, the girls play for each other every week and have a real sense of teamwork which shows on the field.
"While we went down 34-10, there are still plenty of things we can work on before we meet the Stingrays again next round. Well played girls, be proud of your efforts.... go the girls in 2018!"
In other games, the Junior Knights played teams from Stingrays, Warilla, Albion Park Oak Flats, Gerringong, Sussex Inlet, St Georges Basin, and Bomaderry.
Meanwhile, seven teams played away against Albion Park Oak Flats, Warilla, Stingrays and Bomaderry.
Next week, the Junior Knights will host five games at Chittick Oval with the Kiama Reds taking on the Kiama Blacks in the Under 7s game at 10am.
